It was as wonderful as you might imagine, Tee. It’s really fun, being that close. Got to chat while he was signing autographs and taking selfies (Jennifer got the first one, of course!) Sang into Kate’s mic—-that’s going on the reesumé! And finally, JT and I compared fingernails as we shook hands before the encores. Oh——the music was good, too.
Now, I feel as though I’ve already attended a JT concert this year! (PS-Tee, 70 is just a number.)
I didn’t go to Tanglewood, Tee; I had gigs both nights, including a roomful of JT fans on the 3rd. And I believe it’s correct to say that the intermission is gone because there’s already a long one between the two performers. It WAS a longer evening–as you can see from the set list, James didn’t shorten his show–but I could have done with more from Bonnie. She was spectacular. And I think the crowds at Tanglewood may have some sort of feeling of entitlement….that JT is “their” boy, so it gives them the right to be obnoxious. Maybe, maybe not.
The larger crowd does up the energy level, but the intimacy is still there.
There was no “Hard Times”, nor was there an intermission during JT’s show…all one set.
“Shed a Little Light” and “You’ve Got a Friend” were added to the set list. Sorry about the omission. And the typos in my original post.
Would be hard to do, Barb. The videos are shown on multiple screens and go by very quickly. I kept my eye out but didn’t see you.
Jenn, last year, on the big screens, there was a great shot of you and Tee gazing up at JT from the edge of the stage during the final encore. Apparently, the camera people like it, too.
I assumed that that was the reason he didn’t sign autographs between sets last year.
Here she is with Lowell George, on a demo aptly titled, “Heartache”, as it is heart-achingly gorgeous. What a couple of voices!
All of the Tanglewood promotional material speaks of a “favorite” popular artist set for July 3rd and 4th.
