November 24, 2015
[Courtesy NBCUniversal] The 2015 edition of NBC’s annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center special, which celebrates the lighting of the famous New York City landmark’s Christmas tree, will air on Wednesday, December 2. As usual, the show will feature performances by some of music’s brightest stars, with this year’s lineup including James Taylor and Sting.
Taylor will be performing with trumpeter Chris Botti. Other artists on the holiday extravaganza’s bill include Mary J. Blige, Andrea Bocelli, The Band Perry, Andy Grammer, Carly Rae Jepsen, Pentatonix and the all-star group Band of Merrymakers, which features Natasha Bedingfield, Sugar Ray‘s Mark McGrath and members of Better Than Ezra, Fitz & the Tantrums and Neon Trees.
Rockefeller Center’s famous high-stepping dancing troupe The Rockettes also will be on hand.
The tree this year is a 78-foot tall Norway spruce from Gardiner, New York. The hour-long special airs on NBC at 8 p.m. ET.

This segment originally aired Dec 25, 1986.
