WE went to our local historical market this morning, great place to visit, lots of antique stalls, craft, farmers market etc. The atmosphere is enhanced by local singers and bands, today it was a guy playing guitar. Grabbed a coffee and sat down to listen to him. Gave a good rendition of YGAF, then went on to play more traditional music….WIld mountain Thyme, Water is Wide, Sad times come again no more. definitely a JT moment.
TOday is 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, 20000 men killed on the first day, 1 million killed or injured by the end of the battle. Singer gave a fitting rendition of The Green Fields of France otherwise known as Willie McBride, one of the best anti war songs ever. A traditional Irish Folk song, written by an Australian, I believe, would love to hear JT sing this. Just a thought.
